Describe of the value proposition
The internet is full of addicting websites that encourage internet overuse in order to generate more advertising revenue. This has become a growing problem for college students, young professionals, and middle and high school students who are not only wasting time but are digressing in their time management skills. The company, Internet Stopwatch, can create revolutionary web control software to eliminate this problem while encouraging responsible internet use.

For the college student and young professional, there would be free and Pro-Edition versions of the software. The free version would be designed to gain a large market base for the company. It would provide internet tracking which provides weekly feedback on which websites users visited and for how long. The Pro-Edition would have additional features that entice the user to upgrade. The main addition is allowing users to limit their time spent on particular websites on daily, weekly, monthly or yearly cycles.

When visiting a website where a time limit is set, a countdown timer will appear in the bottom corner of the screen displaying how much time is left during that cycle. There could also be editions of this software designed for parental control and school control over children’s internet usage. These versions will provide more targeted features such as allowing for installation and tracking over a network instead of just local computer tracking. Once a user reaches their limit, they will be given a friendly reminder to call a family memeber, to spend time with a friend, or to go outside and enjoy a breath of fresh air!

Currently there are no other software packages that offer this service. The only competition is companies that have monitoring and outright blocking software. The Internet Stopwatch is targeting the gap in the market between overbearing blocking software and allowing people complete internet freedom.

The software would be originally developed for individual users to gain a large market base before developing the parental control software. Once the parental control software is developed and marketed, the company could begin marketing the software to school districts and computer companies such as Dell and Apple who implement 1 to 1 laptop programs in schools, programs that lease laptop computers to every student of the school for personal use.

This could also be translated into an application for Smart Phone and tablet users to limit their time on addictive applications. The goal is to limit usage, but also to encourage positive time management habits and a healthy lifestyle!
